First week in Armenia

Dear Momma,

So I love it here. There is no longer a doubt in my mind that this is where I am supposed to be. Everyone has taken me in and just loved me from the minute I walked into the church building last week. Mom jon (that's my nick name for her since I am forbidden to reveal real names. It translates to mom dear) is my 'new mom'. She's a member of 11 years and she is so sweet. She said that she will be my Armenian mom and you can be my American mom. I told her that was okay :). Our investigators are pretty slippery but we try our best. We are very persistant missionaries here :) I have already learned so much about charity while I've been here. The Armenian people are so wonderful and so sweet and kind a charitable and..... :)

Everyone hugs and kisses your cheek even if they don't know you. It's so sweet. I love just walking through the streets and seeing grown men hug and kiss eachother in greeting. It's amazing. They are just one big family. They sometimes get impatient (not in a mean way though) with me while I struggle with the darn language and will jump in and start to bear my testimony for me if i pause too long (usually .5 seconds or more). More just to help me out. But it's just funny because I can never get a full sentence out without someone jumping in to suggest what it is that they think I want to say.

My companion is great. I love her so much and she is so patient with me. We have sooo much fun together and we are always laughing.

On another note: these people here have nothing, and they are so happy because they dont know anything different. You walk into their one room house and their ceiling looks like it's about to cave in and they have one table in the middle of the room with a couple of chairs and maybe a bed or two scrunched together by the wall. They don't even know if they can afford food for the next day but they will go in debt just to feed you when you come to visit.
I know this is bad, but I have already picked some favorites. Two little ladies that live together, mother and daughter. theyre both old and they have a little shack that's just in shambles. We go over to visit them and they have a bowl of fruit and cookies waiting for us. That is such a huge sacrifice for them. It makes me want to just cry but im not really sure if it's because I love them so much or if it's because their life is so hard.

This is truely the gospel of Jesus Christ. It brings people so much happiness and I have already seen so many miracles.

These people are special and I have caught just a little glimpse of the love that the Lord has for them.

Remember that you are a missionary too and it is also your duty to share this gospel even though you're not wearing a tag. I love you so much momma. Happy mother's day!!!!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
