Two weeks

Hi friends and family,

Unfortunately, I only have a few minutes so this will be short. These past 2 weeks have been great!!! We have investigators almost nightly that we have to teach - in Armenian. memorized. It's so hard!! but soo rewarding! i love the mtc. you'll get sick of me saying that, i promise. i also promise that you'll get sick of me saying how much i have learned to absolutely love this gospel. My testimony has grown more within the past 2 weeks than it has from the time i knew i had one. I have to tell everyone something SO funny. (we laugh more here than i ever have, everything is so funny) So it was about 3 in the morning and we're all sleeping, of course. We always sleep with the window open because our residence is so bloody hot. And i wake up to this awful noise. I kind of lay in bed for a minute trying to figure out what it is and whether i was dreaming or not. It sounded a little like a goose in distress. It was so ugly. So when it continued to get louder and louder i like shot up in bed at the same time that my roomates did. everyone was like "what is that??" so i look out the window and there are these 2 cats chasing eachother up this tree right outside our window(keep in mind we are 4 stories up) and screaming and growling and making hideous noises at eachother. and it went on for a good 3 or 4 minutes. it wasn't funny at the time, it was just plain frightening. but its hilarious now. SO FUNNY. Mom probably wont like that i am admitting this in the group email, but there are SO many attractive elders here. I dont understand it. Maybe they only accept attractive missionary applications or something. either that or i already have missionary goggles on. Anyway, thats not important, but i can just think of a few people that would appreciate that. Also, the language is coming faster than i thought. Its hard, so so hard, but i definitely see the Lord's hand in my life right now. I would not be as far into the language as i am now with out him. So i'm in the missionary choir and we MIGHT get chosen to sing in conference but we'll see. Every one look up dear elder. :) its the best ever. and then the last thing that i can think of that is new is another super funny story. My companion was sitting next to an elder in the computer lab during language study. she reached over to grab her flashcards without looking and accidentally grabbed his hand! We are all super close so it wouldn't have been weird if we weren't in the MTC but they both ripped their hands away with horrified faces. It was the funniest thing ever! So now you know that missionary humor and missionary goggles are a real thing. I love you all so much! and i hope you all know how much i love this gospel and how much i love my savior and what he sacrificed for me. i have strong testimony of these things and it is only getting stronger! stay cool everyone, i love you all. dont forget to write!! ;) love, Sister Kuykendall

One week

Hi momma. I only have 10 minutes to write to everyone so this will be short. The language is coming. :) i have been blessed with the gift of tongues. whenever i get discouraged i have to remember that I've only been here for a week and i can already read armenian and for sentences. and i know lots of verbs. its such a hard language but it is so worth it and i love it. sister thueson and i still love each other SO MUCH. Jill is the cutest! tell her i love her. I have only gotten one letter so far which is a little sad because everyone else is getting letters daily. :) but its okay. Have grandma tell you about DEAR ELDER. please. if you dont remember anyting else from this letter remember to have her tell you about it. I love this gospel so much mom. It is so amazing and i have fallen in love with the gospel. We had the most amazing fireside last night. someone from the seventy spoke to us. his name is really long and weird so i dont remember it but it was amazing. I was in the missionary choir last night. I will be auditioning (not of my own free will) to sing with a irish sister in my distctict in front of the whole MTC. Everyone wants me to which is weird because i cant sing. oh well. I want you to know that i am so happy you raised me in this amazing gospel! my time is up but i love you so much i love this gospel so much i love my savior so much. i love you. love, Madie

First MTC e-mail!

Hi momma!

I love the MTC. Period. although not much has really happened. But I am really happy. My companion is Sister Thueson and she is so super. Like I just really love her. We get along splendidly and we are so similar. She is super skinny but she's a couple inches taller than me. She is from Highland Utah. She is so funny and always smiling! We will be best friends in no time. I was assigned Sr. Companion last night. Oh my goodness! Last night while i was showering, Everyone was singing hymns in the showers! It was so cute! We had a meeting with the Branch presidency meeting last night. They are nice but not like Bishop Summers. But no one is so I'm not too disappointed. The language is..... slow coming. I got frustrated yesterday in class and just broke down and cried. But I pulled myself together quickly. I love my language teachers! They are so cute.

Sister is actually pronounced Queer with the r rolled. And I can say "hello, how are you? my name is Sister Kuykendall. what is your name?" its a little rough but i'll get it. The first day in the MTC they only speak to you in Armenian. So the rumors were true. It was really cool though. I'm more worried about learning the doctrine and learning how to teach than i am about learning the language. I'm kind of super stressed about that. But i know with your prayers and mine i will be fine.

So the food is gross. but its okay ive just been living off water and cold cereal. which i'm okay with. Its better than the mystery meat. I'm having a hard time thinking of other things to tell you.

A lady that works at the MTC found my companion and recognized her and found out that she knew her uncle. She then introduced me to her and she asked where i was from and i told her i was from bountiful. She asked if i knew the Pitts! i told her i did and that my grandma was good friends with them! she said, "Oh well let me take a cute picture of you too and i'll send it to your grandma!" so that should be getting to grandma soon!

I loved getting this email from you! I miss you but i'm not home sick. I cant believe you had to put chains on the tires and STILL spun out! that is SO scary! i'm so glad you were safe! i prayed for you so hard to drive safe and know Heavenly Father answered my prayers.

I will continue praying for you. I do every day and night. I hope you're happy. If you could pray that i will have the gift of tongues and learn the language quickly along with the doctrine and teaching of the doctrine I know that i will be blessed with those things. 2 prayers are more powerful than one! :) I also cant remember where i put my temple recommend. I know i at least got it out of grandmas house but i cant remember what i did with it after that. so it could be in her car or it could be hiding in my luggage somewhere. So hopefully i find it. I also left my debit card at grandma's so i'll have to email her if i have time to see if she can send me that and look for my recommend. My Pday is Wednesday just so you know. But it was today just for this week. I'm going to go get my mail! So hopefully i have some!!! :) I LOVE YOU SO MUCH MOMMA. YOU ARE MY HERO. Talk to you soon! Love, Mads
